Silly Way Round Team Complete the Challenge
Also in the News
We have just heard from the Silly Way Round team that we have sponsored for their Journey through Africa. The challenge has now been successfully completed:
"Just a quick line from Sean and I to say we have just successfully completed our charity bike trip across the Transkei region of South Africa.
Along with other riders from the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, Norway, China and France we helped raise over 1/4 million pounds for children with HIV and AIDS and helped to provide medical and educational care in remote areas. During the trip we covered some of the most arduous terrain that could be thrown at us and assisted with the building of a school and créche with a Xhosa Zulu tribe.
Without your support and the generous donation from PWL, Sean and I would have struggled and we cant thank you enough.
Not all of the riders completed the enduro because of personal injuries which amounted to:
- Broken toes/foot/leg
- Broken ribs - various casualties
- Broken shoulder
- Unconsciousness
- Lacerations
- Broken thumb/hand
There are many stories to tell and I'm sure I will catch up with you at some point but in the mean time I have done a very quick compilation of photographs that you can view to give you an idea of the arduous terrain we covered and the people we helped."
